Board of Trustees Honor Scholarship

One student from each high school in the district with a minimum of 3.25/4.0 high school GPA is eligible for a full tuition scholarship to attend Prairie State College. Students may only submit ONE Trustee scholarship application. Multiple submissions will disqualify your submission.

Board of Trustees Achievement Scholarship

One student from each high school in the district with a minimum of 3.0/4.0 GPA and who has provided significant achievement/accomplishments in the school or community is eligible for a full tuition scholarship to attend Prairie State College. Students may only submit ONE Board of Trustees Scholarship application. Multiple submissions will disqualify your submission.

Board of Trustees Technical Scholarship

One student from each high school in the district with a minimum of 3.0/4.0 GPA and who plans to earn an Associate Degree in a technical field is eligible for a full tuition scholarship to attend Prairie State College. Students may only submit ONE Board of Trustees Scholarship application. Multiple submissions will disqualify your submission.

Terms of the Scholarship

You must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and include Prairie State College's school code (001640) to be considered for a Trustee Scholarship. You must also complete the entire financial aid process by submitting all required documentation to the Prairie State College Financial Aid Office by July 1. See the Steps for Applying for Financial Aid for more details. Any state, federal, or institutional funds a student receives will be applied first to a student's tuition before applying the trustee scholarship.

All awards include tuition and fees for each semester the student is enrolled at Prairie State College. Student must maintain residency in Community College District 515 throughout the duration of the two-year scholarship. Scholarship must be used consecutively through the two-year duration beginning by the fall semester immediately upon high school graduation. If student continues to take classes beyond the two-year period, other sources of funding must be secured.

Students must maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA at Prairie State College. Standards of Academic Progress must be met. If for some reason these standards are not met, an appeal must be filed each semester with the Vice President of Student Affairs.

Students must agree to become an active member of the Prairie State College Student Government Association and/or International Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa. Each recipient is considered a Presidential Ambassador and will be called upon to participate in various events hosted by the President of the College, including but not limited to registration, community events held on campus, college and job fairs, student activities, counseling department functions, commencement, etc.

Students are required to maintain no more than 15 hours per week of outside employment.

The duration of the scholarships will be two years.
