Courses will be loaded into D2L approximately three (3) weeks before the start of the semester. If you do not see your classes two weeks before the semester begins, check your course listing in WebAdvisor to make sure you are listed as the instructor. If you are not listed as the instructor, contact your department. If you are listed as the instructor, contact Antonia (Toni) Koslow (firstname.lastname@example.org) with your course name and sections.
We have integrated D2L with Colleague. This integration will allow your students to be automatically populated into their respective courses based upon their enrollment at the College. Each semester you will receive a new course with the appropriate students enrolled. Students who add or drop a course by 12 midnight will be either enrolled or removed from the course the next day. Students performing these transactions after 12 midnight will be either enrolled or removed after the process runs the following day.
The most important step you need to take is activating your course at the beginning of the semester. If your course is not activated, your students will not be able to access the course. Once you are logged in to D2L, look for the My Courses widget. Next to the name of your course you will find a pencil icon. Click on this pencil icon and you will be taken to the Course Offering Information page. Look about half way down the page for Course is Active. Place a check in the box and click Save. Your course is now active.
Students will be loaded into their D2L courses after the first drop date but they will be unable to access the course until the course is activated and the start date has been reached. After you activate your courses, students will be unable to access the course until the course start date has been reached. The default start date for each course is the start date listed on the class schedule. If your course is scheduled to begin on January 21, 2014, this will be the first date students are able to access the course in D2L. If you prefer your students to have access to your course sooner you have the ability to adjust your course start date. You may find the instructions for adjusting the start date here.
You have two options for copying the course content. You can either copy the course content yourself or you can request for Antonia (Toni) Koslow to copy your course content. If you would like Toni to copy your content, please send an email to email@example.com with your course information. Please note: if there is a high demand for courses to be copied, your request may not be processed right away. All requests will be processed in the order they are received. If you do not activate your course in D2L, students will not see the course when they log in to D2L.
Typically, you do not have access to your course because you are not listed as the instructor in Colleague. Contact your department to make sure you are listed as the instructor in Colleague. Once you are listed as the instructor in Colleague, typically, you will see your courses in D2L within 24-48 business hours.
