PSC Welcoming Holocaust Survivor and Author Marion Blumenthal Lazan For Dec. 6 Presentation [11/30/2017]
Prairie State College (PSC) is welcoming Holocaust survivor and international speaker Marion Blumenthal Lazan to the college to share her poignant story with the college community. Her presentation will be at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday Dec. 6, in the Proven IT Room (1318/20) in the Conference Center on the college’s main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. The event is free and open to the public.
Lazan travels throughout the world, telling the story her family’s survival during Hitler’s rise to power, when they were forced to live in refugee, transit and prison camps, before finally being rescued by Russian troops at the end of World War II. Lazan’s story is documented in her memoir, “Four Perfect Pebbles,” which is co-authored with Lila Pearl.
“We are honored to have such a well-respected and courageous speaker on campus to tell her story to the members of the PSC community,” said PSC President Dr. Terri L. Winfree. “The realities of the Holocaust are such an important part of our world’s history, and the message needs to be shared with future generations, so we never forget.”
The event is sponsored by the PSC Foundation.
