Prairie State College Hosting Touch-a-Truck Event Sept. 24 [09/08/2016]
Prairie State College (PSC) and KLLM Driving Academy, Inc. are hosting a Touch-a-Truck community event on Saturday, Sept. 24. Kids of all ages can explore and touch trucks, emergency response vehicles, heavy machinery and more!
The free event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Transportation, Warehouse and Logistics Building, located at 191 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.
“Kids can meet their hometown heroes and climb into vehicles they see in our community,” said Mike Moody, manager of Transportation, Warehouse and Logistics programs at PSC, who coordinated the event.
There also will be plenty of great photo opportunities and a chance to learn about the Driving Academy.
Hot dogs, chips and water are included on a first come, first served basis. Because of the generous support of several community organizations, admission to the event is free. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Respond Now. Advance registration is requested at prairiestate.edu/cdl.
About PSC’s Transportation, Warehouse and Logistics Building
Over a million dollars was recently invested into enhancing the Transportation, Warehouse and Logistics Building. This building is home to related training programs, including commercial truck driver, forklift, medi-car, safety and more. In partnership with KLLM Driving Academy, residents 21 and older have an opportunity to earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License in just 22 days (with NO out of pocket costs). Upon successful completion, students will be guaranteed a job.
