Program Description:

The International College of Seville (ICS) is a private, independent, cultural association. Their basic aim is to serve as a center for the promotion of international education. The school is located in the charming neighborhood of El Provenir next to the Maria Luisa Park. The three-story building in the Andalusian villa offers:

  • Classrooms
  • Reference library
  • TV room
  • Internet facilities
  • Study areas
  • Administrative offices

The program consists of a wide academic component centering on the intensive study of Spanish language and culture. This is coupled with the opportunity for complete cultural immersion in the life of the Spanish community.
These opportunities include:

  • Field trips
  • Cultural visits
  • In-home stays

No previous study of Spanish is required. However, students with a sufficient language proficiency may also choose to enroll in upper division courses at the University of Seville.

Program Credits:

Program participants attend classes at the International College of Seville. The students may earn 12-15 college credits per semester.

Required Courses:

  • Spanish languages courses based on placement test (6-8)
  • Spanish culture course: "Three Cultures: Jews, Muslims, & Christians in Spain" (3)
  • Service learning course (1)


In addition, participants can select other courses taught in English depending on availability in the fall or spring. Please consult your ICISP representative when choosing courses to transfer back to ICISP institutions.

University of Seville:

Students with proficiency in Spanish (minimum 2 years college-level Spanish or equivalent) may enroll in special classes taught at the University of Seville (U of S) in Spanish. Students who attend the U of S must register for a minimum of three classes. Please consult your ICISP representative when choosing courses to transfer back to ICISP institutions.

Program Requirements:

This program is open to serious individuals who have a strong interest in immersing themselves in Spanish culture and history.

All students are required to register for credit and participate in all classroom and program activities. All students will be required to have:

  • 2.75 or higher GPA, based on 12 or more credits of college study
  • Two faculty recommendations
  • English Composition I completed with a grade of C or better
  • Physician's approval to travel

No previous study of Spanish is required.

Pre-Trip Orientation:

The required pre-trip orientation will be held at Heartland Community College in Bloomington-Normal prior to departure. Students should contact their ICISP representative for further information on exact dates.

Program Fee:

The fee will cover:

  • Instructional costs
  • Airport reception for designated flights
  • Housing with laundry and full meal plan

    • private clinics, medical specialists, house calls, 24-hr. support service
  • Free cell phone for duration of semester

The fee does not cover:

  • Airfare
  • Passport/Visa
  • Personal expenses
  • Tuition

Flight Details:

The airplane ticket will be approximately $1200*(subject to change) for roundtrip from the East Coast of United States.

*Varies by departure city and day of travel.


Both a passport and a visa are required for the semester program in Spain. Visa applicants must first obtain a passport prior to applying for their visa.

The visa application must be processed through the Spanish Consulate in whose jurisdiction (state) the applicant lives. Some Spanish Consulates now require up to four weeks to process visa applications.
Please plan early and accordingly.

The students have two options:
