Recent PSC Graduate - Aslener Taylor

Aslener Taylor

Aslener Taylor is earning her associate degree from Prairie State College (PSC) in May 2012.The Rich East High School graduate is a mother of four, who returned to college after working for several years as a retail manager. Her main motivation in returning to school was her belief that, while there are many options to make money without a degree, those options don't always fit into a person's life plan. She thinks you should love what you do for a living, and if you don't, you can change that by going back to school.

Working and attending school full time did not keep Taylor from being involved in extracurricular activities at PSC. In her first year, she was a staff writer for the Student Review. The next year, she was treasurer of the Student Government Association.

Taylor believed being involved was a large part of her college experience and says it helped keep her on track.  She said being in clubs with students who moved on to four year universities proved she could do the same.

"Graduating from PSC is a real accomplishment. Earning a degree every two years will help keep me on track and motivate me to stay in school and finish all the degrees I have planned," said Taylor.

Taylor plans to attend Chicago State University and study psychology, and hopes to attend graduate school after earning her undergraduate degree.
