Financial Aid

Welcome to Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs

Federal (Title IV) School Code 001640

Although the cost of being a student at Prairie State College is low compared with many other colleges, any educational expense can strain your budget.

Four basic types of financial aid are available to eligible Prairie State College students: grants, loans, scholarships, and employment. Eligibility requirements vary for each type of assistance, so all students are encouraged to apply for financial aid.

Our financial aid staff is available to help in both the search for financial aid and the application process. Be aware that specific deadlines and refund requirements apply to financial aid students and can affect eligibility.

The 2012 - 2013  Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available online at fafsa.ed.gov. Priority consideration deadline is April 1, 2012. Visit the Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs FAFSA Information page.

Attention Summer 2012 Financial Aid Students:

During the summer semester, the financial aid process is manual. If students have funds available after the fall and spring semester for the summer session, those funds are not automatically applied to student accounts. The financial aid staff must manually place awards on accounts after students perform registration activity.  In order for accounts to reflect the appropriate awards, students are encouraged to visit the financial aid office after enrolling, adding, or dropping courses.
