Fall classes begin Aug. 20 at PSC
You are encouraged to bring the following if you attend tne of the PSC workshops:
- Completed or estimated 2011 tax information* (parent's and student's 1040, 1040A, and/or 1040EZ federal tax applications and W-2 forms).
- Student's driver's license and social security number
- Parent's social security number and date of birth.
- Records of untaxed income (welfare, social security, AFDC/ADC, or veterans benefits).
- Current bank statements.
- Current mortgage information for properties other than the family's principal residence.
- Records of businesses, farm (if not the family's principal residence) and assets (stocks, bonds, and other investments).
- A calculator (optional, but helpful).
*If comparable, 2010 tax information can be used for estimating 2011 tax information.
Helpful hints to remember when completing the FAFSA:
- Ensure your social security number is correct
- Ensure your date of birth is correct
- Ensure you have selected a qualifying academic program with the college
- Select the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to import your 2011 taxes into your FAFSA*
*If you do not use the IRS Retrieval Tool, new regulation requires that schools only accept actual tax transcript from the Internal Revenue Service. Importing your taxes decreases the need for tax documents to be requested during verification. See the Financial Aid Web site at prairiestate.edu for more information.
