Welcome to STEM@PSC
What is STEM?
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Any student pursuing an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree at PSC is considered a STEM student.
STEM students have some of the most demanding academic careers, but also some of the most rewarding professional careers.
STEM@PSC is dedicated to student success by building a supportive learning community, beginning with first-year students and guiding them throughout degree completion and the transfer process.
How can I become a successful STEM student?
Attend STEM Student Orientation.
Orientation is a great way to make that first connection with your success team of fellow STEM students, professors, and advisors. Professors want you to succeed in your STEM classes, and getting to know your STEM classmates makes studying easier. Your advisors will help you make the most of your time at PSC.
Participate in STEM workshops.
Each month, workshops are offered ranging from help with finding and applying for scholarships, time management, study skills, and more. Workshops will enhance student success by offering skills that can be applied both inside and outside the classroom.
Ask for help!
Don't ever be embarrassed to ask for help. Being a full time STEM student is tough, but your professors, tutors, and Peer-led team learning (PLTL) leaders have all successfully completed your exact course at some point in their STEM student careers. Your success is everyone's success.
