The Prairie State College men's cross country team turned in a solid showing to begin the season on Saturday morning by having a pair of individuals compete in a 5k out of the 64-member race.
Freshman Thomas brown paced the way with a 34th-place effort in a time of 18:54.2. Just seconds behind him in 18:57.3 was Freshman Daniel Perez. Jesus Flores and Carlos Garnica next to cross, taking 55th and 60th, respectively. Also Keishaun Brown competed in his first ever 5k race for the Pioneers.
Prairie State took sixth among the eleven competing teams, totaling 205 points. The only lady pioneer to compete in the women’s 5k race was Cynthia Rosales.
The Pioneers will now continue training and prepare for their next race on Friday, September 4th.

The Prairie State College men's cross country team took eleventh as an overall finish on Friday afternoon to highlight a strong performance in the Invite among top NAIA and NJCAA schools.
Up next for the Pioneers will be the Concordia University Wisconsin Invite which takes place on September 12 in Wisconsin.

The Prairie State College men's cross country team was back in action on Saturday to compete in the Concordia University Wisconsin Invite, hosted by Concordia University. The Pioneers had no men’s team score but had individuals who ran.
Thomas Brown was the top finisher for the Pioneers, placing 91st overall in a time of 31:30.7 which was his first 8k (4.97miles). Daniel Perez was next to cross, and he did so in 32:07.9, also competing in his first 8k race this season.
The Prairie State College women's cross country team was in action for their first meet this season, but the young pioneers did well, as they took part in the Invite on Saturday morning.
Freshman Amanda Frantz was the top finisher for the Pioneers, crossing the finish line in a time of 29:16.02 and 103 overall in the women’s 6k(3.7miles) race. Freshman Jala Wilson was next 40:24.3. Hana Cromer was 160th overall with a time of 40:25.9
Next up for Pioneers will be the Rose-Hulman Invitational, hosted by Rose-Hulman, Terre Haute Indiana on Saturday, September 26.

The Prairie State College men's cross country team returned to race on Saturday morning to take part in the Rose-Hulman Invitational, hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute.
Freshman Thomas Brown ran his fourth race of the year and he reached the finish line in 32:09.5. Following him was Carlos Garnica, who was clocked in a time of 38:03.4 which was his first time competing in an 8k race.
Up next for Pioneers will be the Eagle Invitational which are scheduled for Friday, October 9, in Warrenville, and hosted by Benedictine University.

Freshman Daniel Perez (Chicago Heights, Ill.) came in first for the Pioneers with a time of 32:28.1 and came in 81st place overall. Freshman Carlos Garnica (Chicago Heights, Ill.) finished 107th with a time of 35:42.6.
In her second meet, runner Amanda Frantz (FR/Hebron, IN.) led the women Pioneers with a 6k time of 28:56.9 placing 76th out of 125 runners.

Benedictine University Eagle Invitational, Warrenville Illinois-Oct. 9
Warrenville, Ill. – Led by Thomas Brown (FR/Olympia Fields, Ill.) and Daniel Perez (FR/Chicago Heights, Ill.), the men's cross country team captured personal record times at the Eagle Invitational hosted by Benedictine University on Saturday, October. 9th.
The 8k race was held at St. James Farm in Warrenville, Illinois and was set to near perfect running conditions.
Carlos Garnica (FR/Chicago Heights, Ill.) had an impressive race running with a time of 35:32 in the field of 117 runners.
Pioneers will return to action, competing next at the Sauk Valley Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17. The men's race is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m.

Thomas Brown posted an impressive 28:30.4 time in the 8k race which featured 29 of the top NJCAA runners. Carlos Garnica (FR/Chicago Heights, Ill.) finished 25th overall, crossing the finish line in 35:27.0.
Pioneers will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Championship hosted by Waubonsee College.

Under three-year head coach Alex Moore, the Prairie State College cross country team has spent the majority of the season simply preparing itself for Saturday's Illinois Skyway Conference Cross Country Championships.
This year's championships took place in Sugar Grove and hosted by Waubonsee College.
The Pioneers will now prepare for the NJCAA Division I Regional Championships on October 31st at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois.

Two runners for the Prairie State College men's cross country team ran on Saturday during the NJCAA Division I Regional Championships, hosted by Harper College.
Freshman Thomas Brown crossed the finish line, posting a time of 31:07.92, while Freshman Daniel Perez was 32:09.56.
The race was the final competition of the year for the Pioneers.
