Professional Honor Societies

Students at PSC can belong to several professional honor societies.

Alpha Beta Gamma - Advisor, Shirley Davenport

Is an international business honor society established in 1970 to recognize and encourage scholarship among college students in business curricula at community, junior and technical colleges. The society has over 35,000 members from 140 member colleges.

Alpha Beta Gamma provides an opportunity for the development of leadership and service, an intellectual climate for the exchange of ideas and ideals, lively fellowship for business scholars and the stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. The society exists to recognize the superior student in business programs.

The purposes of the Theta Chapter at Prairie State College are to recognize academic excellence, to provide ancillary educational experiences, to serve the college and community, and to enrich the social and cultural life of our members.

National Technical Honor Society - Advisor, Georgia Karras

Mission - To honor student achievement and leadership in career and technical education, promote educational excellence, award scholarships, and enhance career opportunities for the NTHS membership.

Vision - To be the international leader in providing recognition for excellence in career and technical education.

Phi Theta Kappa - Advisor, Justin Pariseau

Established by Missouri two-year college presidents in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide individual growth and development through honors, leadership, and service programming.

The Nu Sigma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa was chartered at Prairie State College January 12, 1965. New members are inducted as they become eligible in the fall or spring semester. The chapter’s activities focus on the Society’s four Hallmarks: scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. Nu Sigma Chapter members participate in campus and community-oriented scholarly activities, service projects, travel to regional and international conventions, and attend various cultural and social activities.
