Prairie State College President Terri L. Winfree recently was named a winner of an “Oscar” award from The Link & Option Center Inc., during their “20 Year Anniversary Evening at the Oscars” event. Winfree was recognized in the women’s leadership category. The event was held last month at the Harborside International Golf Center in Chicago.
The mission of The Link & Option Center, Inc. is to empower youth, adults, and families with quality prevention and intervention services that will create a bridge across systems of care and maximize opportunities offered through schools and communities. Among the other winners this year were Cliff Kelley, a talk show host for “The Cliff Kelley Show;” Sam Balark, director of external affairs at AT&T; Illinois Senator Michael Hastings; Tyrone Ward, mayor of the Village of Robbins; and Joan Millender, director of community relations for Ingalls Hospital.
“I am honored to have been selected for this award and to be recognized among so many important leaders,” Winfree said. “I applaud each of the other recipients and The Link & Option Center for all the great work that they do.”
