Graphic Communications

PSC’s visual communication program prepares students for entry-level positions in the publishing and multimedia industry.

PSC has an established photography program that is one of only two associate degree programs in the state. The program teaches professional techniques in a stimulating, creative atmosphere with state-of-the-art equipment. Program offerings include an A.A.S. degree in photographic studies as well as certificates in portraiture and photography.

Art/Art History

For those who want to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in art or art history or pursue an associate in fine arts, PSC offers the foundation courses in art appreciation, art history, and studio art required for the first two years of the art majors. Through painting, drawing, graphic design, and photography, students may pursue a variety of interests.

After portfolio evaluations, students are eligible for junior standing at a four-year college or university. Note: Each institution has its own transfer policies. Students should consult the school to which they intend to transfer and with the Prairie State College Counseling and Academic Advising Center.
