Thank you for taking the time to complete this overall program survey. The results will provide our program staff with valuable information for improvements based on your concerns and needs. The survey is voluntary and your identity is kept confidential. No identifying information is required on your part.

TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) is a support system for Prairie State College (PSC) students. Students are able to network with other students, as well as receive additional institutional support. TRiO goals are to assist, retain, and graduate participants each year. Our advisors are committed to the success of their students.
What do we do?
Students in the SSS program will work directly with staff to develop a plan for degree
completion. Among the services students will receive include:
- Academic Advising
- Career and personal support
- Tutoring and study groups
- Transfer advising
- Informational workshops
- Computer study are in the SSS office
- Financial aid and financial literacy assistance
- Cultural activities and events
These services are provided to students to increase retention and graduation rates, as well as enhance interpersonal and college study skills.
How do I qualify?
To apply for TRiO SSS program at PSC, students must be enrolled at the college. Interested
students should visit room 1140 for an application and to schedule an interview with
staff.
Students who demonstrate academic and financial need, as well as a desire to complete a bachelor's degree, will receive high consideration for admittance.
The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) requires that participants must be citizens of the U.S. or meet the residency requirements for federal student financial assistance, and either be:
- A first-generation college student (meaning neither parent has graduated from a four-year institution) and/or
- Low income (as defined by the DOE) or
- Have a physical or learning disability

Eligibility
Students enrolling for the first time for program services must present the following information before they receive program services:
Provide proof of resident status |

First-Generation Status | A statement regarding each student’s parents’ educational background to determine first-generation status. |
All participants must have a documented academic need.
