testing@prairiestate.edu
The Student Success Center offers free tutoring for all credit courses at Prairie State College. All students enrolled in these courses are eligible for no-cost tutoring. While some tutoring is handled by the specific department (i.e., welding and nursing), most are addressed by the Student Success Center.
For more information or to schedule an appointment with a tutor, email Lisa Hansen at testing@prairiestate.edu. Please include your first name, last name, ID number, course name and instructor. Also note your preferred availability -- days and times. Review the information about each tutor and indicate if you have a preference. You may also copy your preferred tutor in your email to Lisa Hansen. Tutoring is available either face to face or virtual, depending on subject and tutor availability.

We offer tutoring in many different areas - math, English, writing, reading, chemistry,

and all written assignments.
Do students need a referral from a professor?
No! It's entirely your choice to come see a tutor - if you feel like you need extra

having problems? What do you not understand? The tutor will help you with these concepts.
How long does it take to get a tutor after I submit my request?
We will try as hard as we can to get you in as soon as possible to see a tutor. Remember,
most tutoring is by appointment.
Who is eligible for tutoring?
If you are currently taking credit or developmental courses at Prairie State College
you are eligible for free tutoring.
How long are the sessions?
Tutoring is generally available in half-hour or one hour blocks.
Does tutoring really help?
YES! A survey of students using the tutoring services was taken and we received high
marks.
In addition, recent data analysis showed:
- 72 percent of the students who sought tutoring successfully completed course work with a grade of C or better.
- 81 percent of the students either registered for another semester of classes at PSC or graduated.
