What Can You Do with a Computer Network Support Certificate?

With this certificate, you can provide technical assistance, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and support network systems in various organizations. It prepares you for entry-level IT support roles, helping users resolve technical problems and ensuring smooth operation of computer systems. This certification is an excellent starting point for a career in information technology.
The demand for computer support specialists and help desk technicians is growing as organizations rely more on technology. Graduates with this certificate can work as technical support specialists, help desk technicians, or computer support assistants. The skills gained also serve as a stepping stone for further certifications and education in IT, opening doors to more advanced roles in network administration, cybersecurity, and systems management.

Suggested Curriculum

Students will receive training in computer hardware, software, and first-level troubleshooting support. Students will learn about computer hardware components and system operating systems. Jobs can be found in career fields such as PC Support Technician and Computer Help Desk. This program also prepares students for the CompTIA IT Fundamentals and A+ industry certifications.

  • IT 140 Introduction to Operating Systems
  • ITNET 160 Computer Repair

Note: Due to the rapid change of technology in IT fields, there is a five year time limit on applying courses with IT, ITAPP, ITNET, ITPRG, and ITWEB prefixes to this program. Information Technology will accept returning student courses that are 5-7 years old if the student received a grade of “A” or “B” for the course. If the student did not receive a grade of “A” or “B” for the course and the course is older than 5 years, the course will not be accepted for completion of any degree or program. Courses beyond 7 years, with any grade, will not be accepted for this program.
