What Can You Do with a Machinist Certificate?

With this certificate, you can work as a machinist, setting up and operating manual or computerized machining equipment to produce parts according to specifications. You will perform precision measurements, troubleshoot machinery, and ensure quality standards are met. This role is vital in supporting manufacturing and engineering projects, and it provides a solid foundation for advanced roles in production, tooling design, or engineering support.
The demand for skilled machinists remains strong across industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical devices, and industrial equipment. Graduates can find employment as machinists, CNC operators, toolmakers, or maintenance technicians. The field offers good wages, job stability, and opportunities for advancement as manufacturing technology continues to evolve and require highly skilled technicians.

Machinist Certificate (APP.M.TCE)

This program is designed to be completed in 18 months.

This program will cost $7,378 if completed within normal time. There may be additional costs for living expenses. These costs were accurate at the time of posting, but may have changed.

The Machinist Certificate meets licensure requirements and qualifies students to sit for the licensure exam in Illinois.
