Prairie State College to Host Free Earth Day Celebration for Kids on April 27 [04/25/2019]
Prairie State College (PSC) is hosting an Earth Day community celebration from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 27, at the Matteson Area Center (MAC), located at 4821 Southwick Dr. in Matteson.
Attendees will get the opportunity to participate in activities centered around environmental education, as well as science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Children also will be able to use their imaginations with hands-on learning experiments and crafts. Healthy snacks will be provided. The event will highlight the themes from the 2019 Kids@College iSTEA2M summer program, which is scheduled at the MAC from June 17 through July 25.
“The college is committed to improving and protecting the environment,” said Joel Nightingale, sustainability coordinator at PSC. “Education is key in creating a more sustainable future, and this event will be a fun way to increase awareness.”
The Earth Day event at PSC is part of a weeklong series of events centered around Earth Month, celebrated each year during April. All events are listed on the college’s main Facebook page.
To register for the Earth Day event, call (708) 709-3750 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, and include the child’s name and age. Multiple children can be registered in one email. For more information about the PSC Kids@College summer program, visit prairiestate.edu/kids.
