Prairie State College Wind Ensemble to Present Concert

Prairie State College Wind Ensemble to Present Concert [03/19/2019]

The Prairie State College (PSC) Wind Ensemble will present its first concert of 2019 at 7:30 p.m.,  Monday, March 25, in the Barnes & Noble College Auditorium in the PSC Conference Center, located at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. The concert is free and open to the public.

The PSC Wind Ensemble is comprised of PSC music students and community members from the south suburban area. It is under the direction of Phil Crews, director of bands at Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields. Crews is well known for his precise and expressive approach to wind ensemble performance.

The ensemble is known for its wide variety of band literature, including marches, traditional wind band literature and classical music transcriptions. PSC student performers benefit greatly from the participation of highly experienced community members who bring years of performance background to the wind ensemble experience.

This concert will feature soloists and small ensembles within the ensemble, as well as full wind ensemble pieces. Those interested in joining the Wind Ensemble during the fall 2019 semester should contact PSC Professor Valerie Nicholson, coordinator for Performing Arts at (708) 729-3742 or vnicholson@prairiestate.edu.
