Chicago Heights, IL – Prairie State College (PSC) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Anita Moore-Bohannon as its new Vice President of Student Affairs. She began her role this week, following a highly competitive search.
Dr. Moore-Bohannon brings more than 25 years of experience in education, including two decades in higher education leadership. A first-generation college graduate and Alabama native who now resides in Illinois District 515, she reflects the values and aspirations of the PSC student body.
Her career spans early childhood and special education, as well as senior leadership roles at Heartland Community College, Waubonsee Community College, and, most recently, National Louis University, where she served as Vice President for Student Affairs. Dr. Moore-Bohannon has led efforts in academic support, student engagement, developmental education reform, counseling and wellness services, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
"With her extensive experience in student affairs and her understanding of the challenges facing today's students, I am confident Dr. Moore-Bohannon will strengthen our efforts to build a more supportive, inclusive, and responsive campus environment," said Dr. Michael D. Anthony, PSC President. "Her background and leadership align well with the mission and values of our institution, and I look forward to the perspective and leadership she will bring as we work to expand access, strengthen support systems, and create an environment where all students feel seen, valued, and supported in reaching their goals."
Dr. Moore-Bohannon is a certified mediator and practitioner of nonviolent communication. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Education from Auburn University and a doctorate in Community College Leadership from Northern Illinois University.
Her appointment marks an exciting chapter for PSC's Division of Student Affairs, as the college continues to enhance the student experience and strengthen its role as a community-centered institution.
