Scholarship Opportunities

Due to financial constraints brought on by the pandemic, the annual Board of Trustee Scholarship has been suspended for the 2021-2022 academic year.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES HONOR SCHOLARSHIP
Three students from each high school in Community College District 515 with a minimum of 3.25/4.0 high school GPA is eligible for a full tuition scholarship to attend Prairie State College. Prairie State reserves the right to adjust the number of scholarship participants.

TERMS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
All awards include tuition and fees for each semester the student is enrolled at Prairie State College. Student must maintain residency in Community College District 515 throughout the duration of the two-year scholarship. Scholarship must be used consecutively through the two-year duration beginning by the fall semester immediately upon high school graduation. If student continues to take classes beyond the two-year period, other sources of funding must be secured.

Students must maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA at Prairie State College. Standards of Academic Progress must be met. If for some reason these standards are not met, an appeal must be filed each semester with the Vice President of Student Affairs.

Each recipient is considered a Presidential Ambassador and will be called upon to participate in various events hosted by the President of the College, including but not limited to registration, community events held on campus, college and job fairs, student activities, counseling department functions, commencement, etc.

The duration of the scholarships will be two years.

It is strongly encouraged that the applicants complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and include Prairie State College's school code (001640).  See the Steps for Applying for Financial Aid for more details. Any state, federal, or institutional funds a student receives will be applied first to a student's tuition before applying the trustee scholarship.
