Prairie State College Introduces New Degree and Certificate Options this Fall [04/25/2019]
Registration for the fall 2019 semester at Prairie State College (PSC) is underway with more options for students to choose from. In addition to a wide variety of programs offered at the college, PSC is now rolling out a host of new degree and certificate programs for students to explore, including five fully online degree program options.
Students can enroll in 16-, 14-, 12- or eight-week courses, with flexible scheduling options and convenient start dates and courses offered during the day, evening, online and on Saturdays. The 16-week and first eight-week courses begin Aug. 19. Classes for the 14-week session begin Sept. 3. The 12-week courses begin Sept. 13, and the second eight-week session begins Oct. 14. All classes offer the same course material and credit hours. For shorter weeks, class session times are extended.
Saturday options include courses in liberal arts, social sciences, mathematics, biology and career and technical education. New this fall, PSC is offering A.A.S degree options in Information Technology Cyber Defense or Cyber Systems and Surgical Technology. New certificate programs include Community Service Officer, Dental Assisting and Junior Programming. Online degree options include A.A.S degrees in Business Management, Accounting and Business Management, and Information Technology Programming or Web Development. The college also is offering an online A.A. transfer degree in Liberal Arts.
To register for credit courses, new students must complete an enrollment application in person at the college, located at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights, or online at prairiestate.edu. Enrollment Services is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. From May 20 through Aug., 12, the office will be open Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and closed on Fridays. Current PSC students can register online through WebAdvisor.
PSC also offers non-credit courses with start dates throughout the semester. Students can choose from adult education and personal enrichment courses; continuing education and work-related training; and short-term, career-focused programs through the PSC Corporate and Continuing Education (CED) department. The payment deadline for fall credit courses is Tuesday, July 16. Students are required to pay in full or have a payment plan in place on or before the deadline. Financial aid and scholarships are available to eligible applicants. The PSC Foundation also offers scholarships for tuition, books, and fees to those who qualify.
