Maintaining a good standing is essential for registration and transcripts. Overdue
accounts may result in holds. Contact the Student Accounts Office to resolve balances.
Prairie State College balances debt collection with protecting student rights and
ensuring fair access to records.
Registration Holds
- Students whose accounts are past due may not be able to register for an upcoming semester.
- Students on a Registration Hold should contact the Student Accounts and Billing Office
at 708-709-3577 for payment arrangements.
Transcript Holds and Fees
- Prairie State College’s transcript fees are approved by our Board of Trustees and
set at a fixed rate regardless of the circumstances or purpose for which the information
is being requested, such as applying for a job, transferring schools, or applying
for financial aid.
- Official and unofficial transcripts are available to current and former students regardless
of debt.
- Students may still be automatically notified of financial holds during the request
process and asked to contact the college.
- If a hold has been placed on a student's transcript for reasons other than a debt
owed, the student must contact the appropriate department to resolve the hold.
Debt Collection Practices
- Prairie State College is committed to responsible stewardship to its stakeholders,
including but not limited to our students, community, staff, faculty, and regulatory
boards. We aim to balance debt collection with protecting student rights and ensuring
fair practices and access to academic records.
