Opportunity Works


Opportunity Works offers paid internships for young adults in suburban Cook County

In collaboration with the Office of the President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners, the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership created Opportunity Works, an initiative aimed to introduce unemployed young adults, aged 16 to 24, from suburban Cook County to career opportunities in Manufacturing, Information Technology, Transportation, Distribution and Logistics, and other rapidly growing, in-demand sectors.


  • Workforce Training: With cohort options, Opportunity Works makes it easy to get the training you need to succeed.
  • Career-Focused Curriculum: Our curriculum is designed to help you acquire the skills and knowledge needed to excel in today's job market.
  • Hands-On Learning Experience through Paid Internships: With selected internship assignment(s), you'll have the opportunity to put your newfound skills into practice and gain valuable experience.
  • Access to a Network of Professionals: As a member of Opportunity Works, you'll have the opportunity to connect with other professionals in your field, expand your network, and gain valuable insights and advice.
  • Personalized Career Support: Our dedicated career coaches will work with you one-on-one to help you set and achieve your career goals.
  • Multiple program support areas include training stipends, transportation allowances, professional attire, and more.

Opportunity Works is specifically for 16-24-year-olds who are not working, not in school, and live in suburban Cook County.

  1. Complete partnership application. Allow a minimum of 15 minutes to complete.
  2. Attend orientation. Dates will be shared once the application is completed.
  3. Complete grant paperwork.
