Welcome to the Biology Program at Prairie State College! Our comprehensive curriculum

diversity.
This program opens up a wide range of career opportunities, including roles in research, government agencies (such as conservation departments and environmental protection organizations), industry, sales, and teaching at various educational levels. Moreover, the biology curriculum lays the groundwork for numerous health-related professions.
Baccalaureate biological science programs are diverse, with some focusing on cell
and molecular biology, while others emphasize organismal, ecological, and evolutionary
biology. Research universities offer specialized programs of study, optional tracks,
and specializations within biology.
It is crucial for students to determine their preferred direction or discipline within biology early on, ideally by the beginning of their sophomore year. We strongly encourage students to complete the Associate in Science degree before transferring to ensure a solid foundation for their future studies.
